From 8–11 May 2026, Khalsa Aid carried out a four-day relief mission across southern Türkiye, distributing 1,750 food and hygiene packs to Syrian refugee and earthquake-affected families.

The distributions took place across Kahramanmaraş, Antakya, Yayladağı, Reyhanlı and Kırıkhan, supporting widows, orphaned children, families experiencing financial hardship, and individuals living with disabilities.

Over the course of the mission, essential aid reached some of the region’s most vulnerable communities, many of whom continue to face the long-term effects of conflict, displacement and the devastating earthquakes.

Supporting families in Kahramanmaraş

The relief mission began on Friday, 8 May, in Kahramanmaraş, where Khalsa Aid distributed 400 food packs and 400 hygiene packs. Each family received a 20kg food pack alongside a hygiene kit.

The distribution primarily supported widows and children who had lost husbands and fathers due to war and the earthquakes.

During the visit, the Khalsa Aid team spoke with a mother and her 19-year-old daughter, who shared the ongoing challenges families continue to face amid rising living costs and economic uncertainty.

While some families have left in search of employment and stability elsewhere, many remain and continue to depend on humanitarian support.
