Khalsa Aid is preparing relief for 2,000 families in Cebu after Typhoon Tino (Kalmaegi) caused severe flooding and widespread damage. Local community partners and volunteers are helping gather essential food and hygiene packs as the first phase of the response.
In early November 2025, Typhoon Tino (international name Kalmaegi) brought destructive winds and heavy flooding across Cebu province, affecting communities in Cebu City and surrounding areas. Homes, roads, and local infrastructure were inundated, and thousands of families were left without access to daily essentials such as food, clean water, and hygiene supplies.
As families continue to recover from the impact of the typhoon, Khalsa Aid teams are on the ground in Cebu, working with local partners to prepare urgently needed relief packages for the affected households.
Preparing Relief for 2,000 Families
Khalsa Aid volunteers in Cebu City are currently preparing family relief packs for 2,000 households affected by Typhoon Tino. Each pack contains essential items to help families stabilise their immediate needs, including:
- Rice and pasta
- Bottled water
- Washing powder and cleaning items
- Toothbrushes and personal hygiene supplies
- Buckets and containers
- Additional staple food and daily essentials
These relief packs are part of Khalsa Aid’s initial response, focused on ensuring families have access to essential supplies during this immediate period of need.
Community Support Making A Big Difference
This work has been supported by the Indian Hindu Temple and Gurdwara in Cebu, which has provided space for packing, storage, and volunteer coordination.
Volunteers from Cebu and supporters from Manila have joined the effort, reflecting the strength of interfaith and community collaboration during times of crisis.
Ongoing Needs and Continued Monitoring
Khalsa Aid’s team remains in close coordination with local leaders and community organisations to monitor emerging needs and assess additional support required across affected areas. As more information becomes available, the team will continue to adjust and expand its relief efforts.
Further updates will follow as distributions begin and relief operations scale.
Standing With the People of Cebu
Typhoon Tino has caused significant hardship across Cebu, but the resilience of local communities, together with the strength of volunteers and partners, continues to drive recovery efforts.
Khalsa Aid remains committed to supporting families affected by the typhoon with compassion, dignity, and humanity.
