The Manitoba government is donating $100,000 to Khalsa Aid to support its humanitarian work. The funds will be used for both local emergency efforts, such as responding to recent wildfires in Manitoba, and for ongoing flood relief in Punjab, India, and Pakistan. Both the Premier and a Minister highlighted Khalsa Aid's important work and the personal connection many Manitobans have to the communities affected by the floods.
Winnipeg, MB – Khalsa Aid is honoured to announce a generous commitment of $100,000 from the Manitoba government in recognition of its humanitarian service across Manitoba and around the world. This funding will directly support emergency relief efforts in Canada and, in particular, aid for families impacted by the devastating floods in Panjab, India and Pakistan.
This summer, Khalsa Aid Canada teams were on the ground in Manitoba providing essential support to families evacuated from their homes during the devastating wildfire season. The government’s investment will not only strengthen local emergency response but will also support Khalsa Aid’s ongoing relief efforts in flood-ravaged regions of Panjab, India and Pakistan.
Premier Wab Kinew praised Khalsa Aid’s presence in Manitoba during the wildfires, noting that it reflected the resilience and unity of the province. Minister Minto Sandhu added that the Punjab floods are deeply personal to many Manitobans of Punjabi heritage, and that this support highlights Manitoba’s commitment to standing with families in crisis.
“We are humbled by the support from the Manitoba government,” said a spokesperson for Khalsa Aid Canada. “This partnership is a powerful reminder that compassion has no borders. Whether responding to wildfires in Manitoba or floods in Punjab, our mission remains the same: to serve humanity wherever there is need.”
Founded in 1999, Khalsa Aid is a global humanitarian organisation providing disaster relief, refugee assistance, and aid to vulnerable communities worldwide. Guided by the Sikh principle of seva (selfless service), Khalsa Aid Canada continues to deliver emergency relief with compassion and dedication.
