Our Amazing Volunteers - 2010

Karamjit Kaur Palaha (London) Karam a trainee solicitor contacted Khalsa Aid after one of her friends carried out relief work in Haiti with Khalsa Aid. She managed to raise a fantastic £3000 and then spent 12 days (Dec 2010) in Haiti installing water pumps and delivering food to orphanages. "The relief trip to Haiti was the best time of my life, I really felt so proud to be a Sikh" Karamjit Kaur.

Parmjit Singh Natt (London) Parmjit Singh travelled to Haiti in April 2010 and was so overwhelmed by the desperate needs of the local orphanages in Leoganne district of Haiti that he returned to continue the work in Dec 2010. "I think the real message of Guru Nanak Dev Ji to serve humanity, i hope more people will volunteer with Khalsa Aid and show the world the meaning of Sarbat Da Bhalla" Parmjit Singh.

Harpreet Singh Mann (Canada) Harpreet Singh travelled to Haiti in August 2010 and spent 3 weeks in Leoganne. Harpreet Singh did some amazing humanitarian work and became very close to the orphans. The kids always ask about him and look forward to his return. "The Haitians love the Sikhs, I felt so loved" Harpreet Singh.

Anthony Singh (London) Anthony is a trainee solicitor, he travelled to Haiti in June 2010 with Khalsa Aid and carried out much needed relief work "My experience in Haiti was one of the most internally rewarding volunteer placements I've done in my life.The love and priceless smiles you receive from the eyes of these spirited people has touched my heart".

Paramjit Kaur Mokha (UK) Paramjit kaur is a freelance welfare professional in the UK and travelled to Haiti in Feb 2010 with Khalsa Aid. Paramjit spent her 2 weeks in Haiti working very closely with the orphans.

Mandeep Singh Khalsa (London) Mandeep Singh is a Financial Analyst (Shell), a veteran volunteer for Khalsa Aid he has always managed to take time out for seva whilst studying and working. By the age of 22 he had been to Indonesia and Bangladesh to carry out humanitarian relief work on behalf of Khalsa Aid. Mandeep Singh was the first Khalsa Aid volunteer to reach Haiti in Jan 2010. He worked extremely hard to set up the Water4Haiti program; several camps in Port Au Prince had water tanks installed and a regular delivery of drinking water was also arranged. He showed great courage in reaching the most devastated area of the earthquake (epi-centre in Leoganne) and began to rebuild the many destroyed orphanages. "My dad always told us that if you don't see god in all then you don't see god at all" Mandeep Singh Khalsa.

Satminder Kaur Natt (London) Satminder Kaur, a student from London volunteered to assist Khalsa Aid in its projects in Punjab, Satminder spent 4 weeks conducting research and need assessments of 30 Dharmi Faujis families and also inspected our new Gurmat centre in Mansa. "I had no idea of the poverty in the rural villages of Punjab, this work has inspired me to get my friends involved so that we can really make a difference to the poor Sikhs in Punjab". Tahir Mahmood (Pakistan) Tahir has been assisting Khalsa Aid in Pakistan since the devastating Asian earthquake of 2005.Tahir is employed in the telecommunications industry in Islamabad, his dedication to serving humanity is very humbling.He has recently spent many weeks assessing and delivering aid to the victims of the Pakistan floods. "The people of Pakistan really appreciate our Sikh brothers helping us, we are all children of one god" Tahir Mahmood.

The Canadians Sikhs The Canadian Sikhs, Deepak Singh,Prabroop Kaur and Harleen Kaur travelled from Canada in March 2010 and carried up some of the hardest relief work. They accompanied food deliveries to the most remote villages in the epi-centre zone and also worked closely with the Canadian military in identifying the most needy orphanages.

Jaspal Singh (UK) Jaspal Singh is a proud father of 2 children and a successful commercial airline pilot. Earlier in 2010 Jaspal took on the tough challenge of Scafell Pike Walk with a group of like minded individuals. He chose to raise funds for Khalsa Aid and raised an amazing figure of £2000! "I believe in the mission of Khalsa Aid and I hope I will be able to help as much as I can" Jaspal Singh.

The Khalsa Klub (London) Khalsa Klub is a Sikhi workshop for the young Sikh kids in and around Woolwich, London. It promotes the teachings of Guru Granth Sahib Ji and good citizenship. Khalsa Klub organised a sponsored walk for Khalsa Aid in the summer of 2010, walkers as young as 8 years of age took part and raised the wonderful sum of £1700 !!!!!!!

Azadvir Singh ( London ) Azadvir Singh has spent many hours editing and preparing Khalsa Aid videos for the past 2 years. He is also part of the west London team of volunteers who have given up much of their spare time for fundraising for Khalsa Aid.

National 3 Peaks Challenge Team Members Kuldeep Singh Baryana, Harpal Singh Kooner, Raj Singh Brayna, Sandeep Singh Sunner, Gurinder Singh Sangha, Jagdeep Singh and Jujhar Singh Boparai completed the National 3 Peaks Challenge.
